The drain valve attaches to a garden hose so you can drain the water away from the pool. Hook the surface skimmer over the wall of the pool, right near its suction inlet. Right after it attaches to the filter pump it will start cleaning away. It has an adjustable mounting bracket so it can moved to be match the pool surface's water line. Empty the skimmer when it gets full and clean as needed. The skimmer is made of corrosion-proof material, so it can handle even the toughest pool chemicals.

The pool is wonderful. It was easy to put together. It took 2 of us about 20-30 mins. The pump however is not so good. The reason I gave it 4 stars. Absolutely perfect. We bought this little pool because our 6 year old great grandson will be spending a lot of time with us over the summer.
