Very sturdy but the directions were not very clear. Just so you know you will have to have a drill to put in some screws. These stairs were so easy to put together I was amazed. Just make sure to follow the directions because we put all the stairs in when we were just supposed to put the first one on and we had to then take them all off which was a little trickery.
