i put this in my living room last week and it make the space feel way more warm and nice, not just in heat but in mood too. the fire colors are fun to change, and the little lights on the shelf look better at night than i expected, honestly. i use the remote when i feel lazy on sofa, which is most days anyway. the heat is decent for my apartment area, not super strong like real fire of course, but enough for chilly evening when i watch tv and drink cafe con leche. i also like the flame without heat, so it still looks cozy even when weather is not cold. shelves are handy for books and little decor, mine has one candle and family photo now. assembly took me a bit, maybe close to 2 hours, and instructions was ok but not perfect. still, once done, it looks comfertable and homey.. Arrived a day late but was well packed. Laid out in a way that the top pieces are the ones you need to assemble first. No digging for the next piece. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. The firebox was less than we hoped for. The flames were not of high quality like we've had on a different electric fireplace we had, and it seems like it consists of a bulb inside a spinning drum to get the effect, which would be OK, but the spinning drum makes more noise than you'd expect and detracts from the whole effect. Summary: The mantel is awesome. The firebox, much less than awesome. Wish I could replace just the firebox with something better. I am really happy with the look of the fireplace mantel and insert. The title suggests its solid wood and Id agree that parts are. However, the top was chipped and was not solid wood underneath. A beautiful solid piece. There’s a remote for lighting and for fireplace itself, great feature if you don’t want them both on at all times. Assembly was easy and straight forward. Love the top of this fireplace!! It’s hollow but looks beautiful. We love the look of this fireplace even the original color looked nice. The other reviews are true the panels chip very easy at the corners but it wasn’t a problem for us bc we wanted a black fireplace. It’s kind of silly we bought this to paint it BUT we loved the look just not the color we wanted plus it was on sale and other black fireplaces were over 1500 dollars so we saved 800 with a little labor..
