Bought the California king size down comforter to put in a king duvet cover on a queen size bed. It is as fluffy and luxurious as I had hoped although less fluffy than the photos online appear. The comforter is so much warmer than my old one. I used to need an extra fleece blanket and would still be cold. With this new comforter, I was able to remove the fleece blanket and set my thermostat 5 degrees lower in New England winter and still be cozy and warm. I love it. The shell is soft 300 thread count cotton.Microfiber doesn't have the same insulating properties as down, so microfiber duvets are heavier weight. A fair bit of fill is required to achieve the desired warmth. One benefit of a synthetic duvet is that it can be machine washed at home, given your machine is quite large and you wash/dry on a low heat setting. Natural down and feather are sensitive to moisture, but polyester is not!
