The light brightness is adjustable, three dim setting. You got warm light and day night. I personally prefer warm light setting. Again, it is easier to adjust the brightness with the touching button in front of the mirror. The button is very sensitive to touch, so you just need lightly press the button then you see the magic happen. I prefer to leave the light on, to create a warm atmosphere. This was purchased to use as an art projector and it will serve that purpose very well. It is capable of projecting to very small sizes if needed and that is a plus. Lightweight, wireless capability and simple to use. My only bug bear is the user manual is not quite detailed enough. I wish still photo projection did not default to slideshow mode.
