UPDATE: My cat absolutely loves this cat tree, so I’m adding stars to my review. Her opinion matters too, since she’s the one using it! The cat tree is heavy, sturdy (if against a wall and on a flat surface) and it looks good, but there are a number of major design flaws. 1) The second and third platforms are exactly the same size, so the cat can’t jump from one to the other; the cat has to jump 32” from the floor to the third platform, and repeat that when she comes down, because there is no interim step. 2) The tube is closed on one end. In my case that doesn’t work because it would’ve been nice if she could sit in there and look out the window. 3) there is no access to anywhere else from the tube except to the floor. 4) The platform below the top perch is too small for comfortable jump. You can see in my first picture how my cat has to contort herself to make the jump. She’s a year old and very athletic, but it could’ve been designed better. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize these things until I had thrown away the box, etc., but I regret purchasing this cat tree. I’m sorry to have to say that, but it’s true. Beautiful cat tree, and my cat has grown to love it! He’s 7yo and about 14 pounds. I had two concerns while purchasing 1) how hard would it be to put together and 2) how sturdy would it be. It was relatively easy to put together with well marked parts and photo instructions. It has a very wide square base so I’m not longer worried about it tipping however, when my cat gets to the very top basket and is moving around it appears to shake quite a bit - enough to make me a little nervous. All the parts are sturdy and after 2 months of having it, I can confirm that it hasn’t tipped at all. I love this cat tree.
