Amazing range hood! Not easy to install, we actually still were sweating trying to get it secured in with four people involved. The instructions say at least two people, but I would get more people helping! It understandably took us a long time, but it is very sturdy. We have just short of 8 ft ceilings, and wanted it about 30” over the stovetop, so we also had to cut the two covers for the top portion. Get a metal cutting wheel and grinder, it was definitely not a job for someone who doesn’t have experience doing that, but you could cut it a different way if needed. Not necessary to alter like that though for taller ceilings, or lower placements. Installation aside, this range hood works beautifully and is strong even on its lowest setting. The lights are not blinding, and it’s nice having just buttons for control on both sides. Absolutely would recommend, for anyone who has the right help to install! The hood looks nice and works great and I love that the controls are located on both sides of the hood. When the hood first arrived I pulled everything out to check for dents and didn’t see any but once we went to install it a long time after there was a dent that can really only be noticed at the right angle. After waiting months to have my kitchen back I didn’t want tot have to take it down and wait for a new one so I’m living with a dented hood. This is an awesome Z-Line hood unit especially at the Wayfair purchase price. The first one I received had a metal rubbing of a fan blade, reached out to Z-line, sent a video explaining the situation. I was advised a new replacement was already on its way, in a blink of an eye. NO fuss at all. Not having an actual island in my kitchen, I installed it above my Bertazonni stove, away from the wall. The placement made the corner look bigger, very airy, and receive many compliments. I have seen many island hoods but this one actually has the controls on both sides of the unit, making it unique. The 4 lights pivot, allowing light to be were most needed. The motor is very powerful, and does the job it's intended to do. I ordered the matching crown molding for a finished professional look. All in all we like the hood, but for the price there were some issue. For one, two sides of the column had a smoother brushed finish than the other two. Also, some small specs of rust have appeared on the finish. If I had to guess I would say some iron particles were left behind by the brushing process.
