Smoothtop Electric Ranges

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) COOKTOP: The cooktop is absolutely lovely and well made. It looks like a ceramic smooth top, but has the induction labels on each burner so you know it needs the appropriate cookware. All burners rapidly boil water within a minute with appropriately sized cookware. Dials work well with an initial press onward and clockwise turn to start the burner. Then you can just turn the dial to get to the desired temperature setting. Rapid boost is amazingly fast. Perfect for a rapid boil. When you turn the temperature down then it will immediately react with instant heat reduction. Each setting can be felt as you turn the dial so you know that you have the correct temperature setting. If you leave a burner on without any cookware then it will sound a gentle alarm to let you know to run it off. The burners will turn off automatically within a minute if you don’t put the cookware back on. You will then have to use the dial to turn it back on. This is a great safely and energy conserving feature that prevents burners from being left on after cooking is completed. Dials are smooth and large for hands that may have physical disabilities. Larger dials are easier to use with fingers and hands that have limitations. So the larger size is a great advantage in this way. The dials are well made. The induction cooktop surface is easy to clean. If it cools you can use a scraper designed for the surface and can use Cerambrite liquid as a cleaner. A microfibre cloth is perfect for keeping the surface clean and free if any debris. OPERATING PANEL: The operating panel is well made. It is easy to use and see at arms length. The clock is easy to set, and very visible and bright for nighttime. The panel will show a “burner on” during use, and “cooktop hot” during use and a little while after burners are turned off. Great for letting everyone know the cooktop is hot because there is no other way of knowing. Burners do cool down quite rapidly once turned off. All of the buttons on the panel are well labeled and easy to press. USER MANUAL/APP: I use the online manual as it has a search feature, but the physical copy is essential for those wanting to sit and read at leisure. The manual allows quick topic searches that save a lot of time. The app calle LG ThinQ is available to download if you are interested in smart features. The app walks you through the setup to get the range remote connected ti you home WiFi. OVEN: The light button for the oven is easy to apply when the oven door is closed. You can watch food bake inside the large illuminated oven. The light automatically comes on when you open the door, which is a nice safety feature. The oven is easy to use through the control panel. The oven has the bake, convection, and air fry settings. These are all very easy to use with the desired settings through the press of the panel buttons. The oven interior is very spacious, and there is a pull out storage drawer beneath the unit. MY IMPRESSION: My overall impression of this electric range oven is excellent. It has a clean, modern look, but what I've appreciated most is how well it performs during everyday cooking. The cooktop heats quickly and gives me plenty of space to use multiple pots and pans without feeling crowded. The illuminated knobs are a thoughtful feature because it's easy to tell when a burner is on at a glance. I've also enjoyed using the SmartThings app, which lets me monitor the oven remotely and sends helpful notifications when preheating is complete or cooking is finished. The built-in Air Fry feature and convection oven have both worked well, giving us consistently great results while saving counter space by eliminating the need for another appliance. I LOVE our new GE induction range. I have to admit, I was pretty uncertain about how I would feel about the change. The thing that bothered me the most was that my favorite skillet would no longer work well on the induction range. My husband purchased a beautiful cast iron skillet that I now love just as much. The range itself really does heat instantly. It can boil tap water in about a minute -- crazy! It is as easy to control as a gas range. The only down side of the range is on one side there are two burners that can be tethered together and operated together for a large pan - think rectangular pancake skillet. This feature is dumb because while the range top has markings indicating there would be even heating on the entire side of the range, including between the burners, that does not happen and you just have two separate hot spots on one large pan. I don't know why they did this. As to the oven, it is spacious -- you could definitely do a turkey. One of the racks pulls out of the oven, which is great. This means when you are doing something heavy or something you need to baste frequently, you don't have to lift it out of the oven -- you just pull out the rack. I like all of the features including the air frier. I should note that this is difficult to initially set up because the air frier will only work via an app on your phone. This means you need to set it up with wifi and that was pretty complicated. Once done, it's done forever (I hope!). The oven does not heat instantly like the range or like a gas range, but it also does not take as long as our old range. I feel like it takes about 12 - 13 minutes to heat up to 450, for example. The heat is even. I haven't used the self cleaning feature, but am glad it exists. I am also pleased with the storage drawer under the oven. It is large and easy to pull out.. Mary In Nor Cal. Once it was installed, I connected the range to the SmartThings app. The app was able to connect the range right away thru my wifi. And once connected, It automatically set the time for me. The app is a great feature when you want to control the temperature, cooking modes, oven light and sounds from your phone. You can even have it sent notifications when the cooktop elements are on. However, your phone may ping often if you do a lot of cooking on the stove top. Also, what I really like about this range, is the precision knobs. My husband and I like the use of knobs for stove top cooking. And I definitely enjoy the air fry feature, which by the way came with a free basket for air frying. Also, with a convection oven such as this, baking would be faster and even. Also, the range uses circulated air when you’re roasting to cook the meat evenly. You can’t go wrong with this range.. Upon installation of the stove, we discovered the unit wasnt working properly. Wayfair Customer Service acted quickly and gave us several options which included repair or replacement. We opted to have the oven replaced. The replacement unit arrived within two (2) weeks. I cannot brag enough on Wayfair's Customer Service and Delivery Service as they did everything in their power to make our experience amazing. We received the replacement unit and it looks beautiful in my new kitchen. Wayfair excelled in my kitchen remodel project. There are a couple of interesting things about this range I wish I knew before ordering. I will say this range does look really great if you can work around the weird issues. 1) this range is not normal counter depth, which means there will either be a gap in the back, or you will have to have this pushed further in than your cabinets (which I think looks strange). I’m sure this information is in the specs, but it was something I overlooked (that’s on me. I was only looking at the specific width I needed). 2) there is no space underneath the range for your 220V outlet. Our old range had ample space, so I didn’t think we’d have an issue but we did. The only work around we figured out was to remove this massive granite block attached to the range that acts as a weight. Something I thought was very strange. Lol 3) This range does not come with a power cord. We were able to use our old one, but just an FYI that you will need to have one handy. Again I’m sure this is in the description somewhere. 4) there were some pieces that feel a little cheap (like the bottom drawer and the way the oven glass is attached. It's beautiful. I'm new to induction, so it's weird, so far, but I think that's about induction technology, not this stove. One super tiny complaint is the screws they give to put the black metal backsplash on are silver, so if your stove is in an island & you see the back of your stove, the screws stand out & look cheap.
