Measure any doorways, hallways, stairways, and areas where there may be a tight fit along the path you'll need to bring your new appliance through on delivery day. This step will ensure you don't have any trouble getting your new appliance to it's installation location.

First, measure the height from the floor to the top of the cabinet or where the cooktop of your new range will be. Next, measure the depth from the back wall to the front of the counter. Finally, the width of the top and bottom of the opening. If the two measurements do not match, use the lower measurement for width. You can fill in any gaps with cabinet trim.

For electric ranges, make sure you have a compatible (3 or 4-prong depending on the appliance model) electrical outlet within 4 feet of where you’ll install the appliance.

For gas ranges, make sure you have a natural gas shut-off valve with a metal connection directly behind where you’ll install the appliance and an electrical outlet within reach of the appliance’s power cord.
