After reading some reviews on putting this bed together, I was concerned. However, it only took two people 2 1/2 hours to put this bed together. It is very sturdy and the grandkids love sleeping up top as well as the space below to work and play. We bought two of these for a small space and they will work out well! One box had a chipped piece (I think the metal piece in the box must have hit it during the shipping process), but both Wayfair and the manufacturer have responded quickly to replace it. My daughter loves this bed. It’s low enough she can still have her bed tent, but tall enough underneath to have a little reading area. I can sit up completely underneath without hitting my head to read with her (I’m 5’3”). Feels sturdy and has held up nicely over the last 6 months. It took 2 dudes from Angie 3 hours to put it together, so it’s really worth it to spend the extra 150 and get it done unless you like to spend half the day putting it together. Bought this bed for my five year-old. The materials are sturdy, fairly easy to build. The hardware is strong, and some thought was put into the looks, as there was hardware included to hide the unused holes. There are extra holes based on which orientation you want to build the bed (i.e. opening of the ladder to the left or to the right.). The built-in desk is probably too small for a larger child, but for a 5 year old, it's big enough for his books and some toys. The space below is big enough for a reading nook, if you use floor cushions or perhaps a bean bag. We got my kid a reading light to go under there along with some Christmas lights, and he loves to crawl under there and read. All in all, he enjoys the taller bed and has no issues climbing up and down, although the ladder could be better spaced together, but it wouldn't be an issue for a larger child.. Young. Albany, NY.
