We've had a Good Ideas rain barrel (80 gal) for about three years now and have been really pleased with it. The rain barrel looks as nice as the pictures. The mesh to keep the bugs out does not fits snuggly snuggly and I will need to add aluminum screen. There are two round cut outs near the top at the back of the rain barrel and I assume that’s for venting air as the barrel fills as well as when water is dispensed. Or I suppose it could be for overflow There was no diagram of the rain barrel explaining all the nuances. I’m concerned mosquitos will find these holes as well as the two holes at the top of the barrel in the channel near where the water is collected.. Paula. Fort Worth, TX. Sun May 17 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rain barrel is nice and sturdy. Installing it very simple and easy. One does have to be careful though, because it is plastic it can break if it potentially falls. However it is pretty strong and well built. It holds quite a bit actually and if you have a smaller garden this should be good. If you have a bigger one maybe 2 or 3 of these should be sufficient. I like the color of it as well doesnt stand out or look weird. I would recommend this!. Rahats2_7247. Sun Feb 02 2025

The Heritage 50 Gallon Rain Barrel represents a new evolution in decorative rainwater collection, bringing the character and detail of traditional barrel craftsmanship into a durable modern design. Its story began with an original wooden barrel handcrafted by a skilled cooper, with individual staves, natural grain, knots, cracks, hoops and rivet details carefully selected and shaped for an authentic appearance. Precision tooling then captured those distinctive surface details, allowing the finished resin barrel to preserve the character and imperfections of the handcrafted original. Designed to be as functional as it is distinctive, the Heritage stores up to 50 gallons of rainwater for gardens, planters and outdoor watering. The integrated planter top features a deep planting area for flowers and greenery, while a separate rear collection zone and molded water-routing path help direct incoming rainwater away from the planted section. A corrosion-proof screen guard helps block leaves and debris from entering stored water. A brass spigot provides convenient water access, a separate lower nozzle with shut-off valve supports drainage and hose use, and overflow outlets allow multiple barrels to be linked for additional storage. Constructed from durable, BPA-free LDPE resin, the Heritage is engineered for outdoor use and backed by a 2-year warranty.

When drought sets in and rainstorms are infrequent, rain barrels can provide that precious water you need for your lawn and garden. This barrel can provide pure, unchlorinated water when municipalities declare periods of low water usage. During heavy rainfalls, a typical roof can produce hundreds of gallons of water. By saving that water, you can reduce your average water usage by up to 40%. With those kinds of savings, the rain barrel can pay for itself in just a few seasons. Attractive barrel design so it naturally fits in with your home and landscape. The downspout opening is protected by a mesh screen to keep out bugs, animals, and debris while still being easy to remove for cleaning and maintenance. The flat-back design is one of the most convenient features as it allows your barrel to sit right up against your home so you don't have to worry about purchasing excess downspout parts.

Only thing that would make these better would be a lighter color. The opening at the top allows for more open air catchment since i dont want to catch from our older roof tops. Both are set up on bases to help support them. Took a bit for enough rain to collect to make the barrels heavy enough to withstand our high windows. Arrived surpringly quick. Relatively easy to set up.. Cindy. Thu Apr 04 2024

I love this rain barrel! Of course, as soon as we installed it, it didn’t rain for almost a month! But when it finally did rain, it filled up fast! I just ordered my second one! It was very easy to install. The only negative things I can say is 1) The top planter was misshaped, but once I put dirt and flowers in it, it fixed itself. There was not a problem flipping it and putting the top on without the planter side up. 2) It seems like when the barrel is filled to the top, the plants sit in muddy water. But that’s really not a big deal. You just have to empty some water out.. Rebecca. New Palestine, IN. Thu Jul 21 2022
