This StepOn Wastebasket caught my eye for it's locking mechanism which I bought to keep my kids AND my dogs out of the trash! This locking lid feature is a game-changer! I no longer have to worry about the kiddos and the dogs getting into the trash and making a mess around the house. The locking knob is easy to operate, making it convenient for daily use. I initially bought this as a bonus waste basket to use int he basement but it has since been moved upstairs as my primary trash bin. Also, the design is sleek and modern, adding a touch of sophistication to any room. The hinged lid opens smoothly, allowing for effortless replacement of the trash liner. It firmly snaps back into place, ensuring the lid stays securely shut, even if the wastebasket is accidentally knocked over.

This 12.6 galloon step on waste basket is of a very good quality in terms of durability, make and color. We use it in our home office. The lock system of this wastebasket is a great addition to the regular wastebasket with a lid. However I wish the lock would be easier to hold and rotate and would be little bigger. Overall it is a great product to have and use in our house or workplace. I received this product as part of a My-Take research study.

I purchased this garbage can a few years back. Hands free use and the lid can lock!

Purchased a two pack and the lid tabs snapped on both containers. Very disappointed. Tried to find replacement lids because waste basket was expensive, however I was unable to find just lids I will try and contact sterilize direct

Disappointed. This wastebasket only lasted a couple of months. The plastic latches on the lid have already bent and broken off. Everytime I step on the pedal it just pops the whole lid up now. From the beginning, When you put a garbage bag in it after a couple uses the flip up lid mechanism pokes a hole inside the bag. I've tried different bags thinking mine were too thin. Happened with the flex bags as well. So that causes trash to slip into the bottom of the pail. I had high hopes for this wastebasket, switching from another brand to try out the sterilite locking lid one. I havent used the locking option because I didnt want it to break. But thought the option was great since i have a dog that loves garbage.

My kids bought me one for Christmas to replace all the ones they broke over the years. If you have a large family do not buy. The plastic parts to lock the main lid in place do not last if you have to change your trash bag daily. Mine lasted 1-1/2 months. Conveniently, replacement lids are not available. Off to buy yet another trash can!!

I tried em all..from swinging tops, to no tops all all, from mini baskets to oversized tall ones, but when my kids bought me these to replace the old and tired ones, I knew I got a "winner". Hands full? Step on the pedal and the lid goes up for as long as you want (unlike the swinging ones that compromise your digits or childrens' limbs). The lid goes down and what goes in the garbage..stays in the garbage (unlike the open ones...phew!!). The locking mechanism prevents grandchildren from recycling your garbage usually onto the floor. Easy to change bags, durable and large enough without being overpowering in the kitchen. Great product! Thanks.

I was excited to find a “pet proof” garbage can for my kitchen but my dog quickly helped me realize she is smarter than your can. She just knocks it over to make the big lid pop open. While the step portion can be locked in place, the lid you open to put your garbage bag in does not lock nor does it fasten itself securely in place. My dog knocks the can over and I’m left sweeping up piles of garbage from my kitchen floor. :(
