superior packaging, there is film between each gate so everything arrived in perfect condition. it is real wood so you can stain it if you wanted, but it is unsealed, so can be a little bit rough to touch. checked it over for any cracks or splinters just to be extra safe! it is a beautiful piece and i dont need to assemble it just yet, but it is perfect for us..
