Bath Pillow

It can be almost impossible to rest your head against a hard bathtub wall and still feel comfortable. Fix this problem with a bath pillow. Bath pillows provide support for the head and sometimes the shoulders. Most bath pillows are attached with suction cups against the bathtub wall and sometimes over the side of the tub – this placement gives you a space to lay your head and cushion your shoulders without the pillow slipping. Bath pillows are either made of waterproof materials or are machine-washable to easily prevent the growth of mold or mildew. They are often filled with air, gel beads, or a memory-foam-like gel.

Bath Caddy

If you love to kick back with a book, snack, or movie in the tub, try a bath caddy. A bath caddy is a long, flat tray that lays over the sides of your tub. You’ll never struggle to hold a book above the surface of the water or knock a snack bowl off the side of the tub again! Many bath caddies come equipped with a stand for a book or tablet as well as space for a coffee mug, candle, or wine glass. Try creating an extra-relaxing setting with a glass of champagne, a small vase of flowers, and a little snack bowl of cheese and crackers.

Plastic Wine Glasses

Nothing makes a bath feel more luxurious than a glass of good wine. However, breakable glasses may not be suitable for a slippery bathtub. Try plastic wine glasses to maintain a stylish look while avoiding any breakage if they slip. To further prevent a spilling accident, try cutting a corner off a rug pad and using it as a nonslip coaster.

Candles & a Scented Oil Diffuser

Most bathrooms have a harsh overhead light that is not conducive to relaxation. Set the mood by turning off the overhead lights and placing candles on your bath caddy or around the sides of your tub. Flickering candlelight and soothing scents will help you unwind and connect with your senses – scents like lavender, vanilla, jasmine, and lemon are known for their relaxing qualities. For an extra fun touch, try surrounding yourself with flameless floating candles in your tub.

If you would like to avoid the flame from candles but would still like a lovely scent, a scented oil diffuser may be the right option for you. An oil diffuser sends small, breathable particles of essential oil dispersed in water droplets into the air. Essential oils are great for aromatherapy, and individual scents can target relaxation, anxiety relief, cold relief, and more. Pair flameless candles for ambient lighting with oil diffusers for a relaxing scent – the ultimate combo.

Wall Shelves

Use wall shelves to give you a safe space to place more of your bath essentials. Keep soap, bath scrubs, candles, and essential oils tucked safely away on the shelves. Your shelves will look like a decorative spa display when lined with all of your bath essentials as well as small accents like flowers or seashells. Look for a shelf with a towel bar to hang a small hand towel (to dry your hands before you turn the page of your book!). If you have a tile wall next to your bath and don’t feel like drilling holes, try a suction-mounted shower caddy.

Bath Rug

Give yourself a comfy, nonslip place to step out of your tub with a bath rug. You’ll minimize the risk of slipping and falling and shelter your feet from the cold tile. In a mostly white bathroom, a bath rug can serve as a fun pop of color – try pretty polka dots for a feminine touch or animal print for maximalist glam.

Underfloor Heating

If you’re prone to cold feet and a bath mat just doesn’t cut it, think about underfloor heating. Underfloor heating is installed under the tiles in your bathroom to give you a warm place to step as you exit the bath, extending your luxurious relaxation. This heating system can also heat the room in place of a traditional radiator. If you do not have extensive home renovation experience, we recommend hiring an expert to install your underfloor heating system.

Shower Curtain

Shut out the rest of the world by surrounding your bathtub with a shower curtain. Curtains are great for a bathtub next to a window – your bath will be illuminated by natural light. If you share a bathroom, a curtain can also add an extra layer of privacy. Stick to a simple white curtain for a spa-like backdrop to your bath, or add your own style by picking a pattern. Be careful using candles and a shower curtain at the same time; keep candles on the side of the tub not surrounded by the curtain, or use flameless candles. Use a D-shaped curtain rod to surround your bathtub with the curtain.

Greenery

Adding natural elements to an indoor setting can reduce stress and aid relaxation. Try surrounding your tub with leafy, green plants for a calming effect. Try placing large potted plants on stands around the sides of your tub and install a shower curtain rod to hang planters up above. If you opt for wall shelves, line them with tiny succulents to surround yourself on all sides with plants.
