Stair treads are easy to install, however you need to use double sided carpet tape to hold them and place and avoid slips and falls. We installed these for our common stairway that is used by tenants instead of a runner because you can replace a single tread that is damaged or dirty easier than you can repair a damaged stair runner. We purchased two different widths because we have both rectangular and triangular stairs. The triangular stairs are not as wide as the rectangular stairs. The different widths work. We did not need to cut or trim. So far it has been easy to clean the treads and the stairs.
