Being a cat rescuer as well as now a Senior Citizen, I have been thinking about getting a self-cleaning Litter Box for quite a while. Having to clean several litter boxes several time a day can be quite trying on us Seniors. This unit is quite nifty. However it only works for my three smaller fur babies. It really does not accommodate larger cats, of which I have several My little fearless one likes it and does mind the sound. However, I just had to turn the power button off, if I want some of my others to use . If you have smaller kitties this will work fine. Not great for bigger cats. I love how open it is. I kind of wish this one came with the step. Im not sure if the cats would use it, though. I already have one, and it has the front opening. My cats are both good size. This ones a little bit easier. I think for cats to go in and out of. Im not sure how long the bottom piece will last as it seems to be more material than hard plastic. I have had this now for about a month and I love it. I plan on getting another one and replacing the other one as they use this one most often. The other is the typical small opening and the waste draw is small and always needs to be adjusted as nothing falls forward and I can't find the right size bags, no company to order supplies from.. Ive been using this for a few weeks and so far so good. Its been an adjustment for the cats because the motor scares them a little. But theyve come around one by one. The set up was very easy. PROS: This litter box is a nice large size for my 20 libby kitty. It was easy to put together, very efficient, runs quietly, and my cats took to it surprisingly fast, after a two day transition. It's a real game changer, and back saver, once you figure out the dynamics of how it works, in your home setting. CONS: I have a medium pile carpet and try to put a rubber litter mat underneath the box, but it was too high and triggered the sensor alerting to change the box. This kept the box stuck in the changing mode until I figured it out. The stilts could stand to be a little bit higher because the tray hangs low. Quick solution was to only place the mat under the area of the box that does not have the waste basket as seen in pic, but this leaves bare carpet exposed. I plan to get four small wooden blocks to elevate the stilts, which again, should have been made taller. However, this is not a total deal-breaker...just the thought of the burden of returning a heavy automatic used litter box, is undesirable, and helping the PROS list for today. So far I'm loving this automatic litter box. It does a good job of separating waste and the waste bin is fairly large. It came with a box of 45 waste bags as well as a litter mat which was a nice bonus I wasn't expecting. Because it's open on the top, it never fully closes when working so there's no danger of a cat getting stuck. It also has sensors that I tested with my hands to make it stop if it detects something in the box while it's cleaning and the sensors worked well.
