The material is good and quite suitable for small birds like parakeets and conures. However, the manufacturing could be improved to make it mess-free. This cage is large and durable. Assembly was a bit complicated as a few pieces were mislabeled, but after process of elimination I was able to figure it out. I bought this cage after my daughter bought hers. It has 2 long perches on top for napping and the Play Top entertains my birds all day. I can hang toys and add food and water on the top. This thing is HUGE! I needed a larger, roomier cage for my two macaws, and their old cage was falling apart. This cage will be wonderful for them. It's very tall, so they will feel secure perching up high. The cage comes with four perches, but you'll need a lot more and swings to fill it up.
