Gate works well but is hard to open because you have to pull it back and lift handle at same time while also pushing it open or it will snap closed on you. The quality and function is very good. But I find it difficult to use at the top of stairs while standing on the first step down (also I am short 5’1”, so it is awkward trying to pull it up from that angle.) but overall it is good product.
