Sun Pottery Classic Bird Bath has a unique, strong, locking device (not plastic). All Alcott Hill® glazed pottery and bird baths are fired in gas kilns. These are significantly more environmentally friendly than the large, standard, wood-fired "Dragon" kilns used by most of Alcott Hill® competitors. The "Dragon" kilns burn a huge amount of rubber wood at each firing which is very bad for the environment and doesn't provide even firing for the product. Alcott Hill® gas Kilns ensure more even colors and better quality products because the temperature is controllable; unlike that in the wood-fired kilns. Love the mosaic design and color. The size of the bowl is perfect for my solar (disc) water fountain. The only reason it’s not a 5 star is the stand is a little jerky and the bowl doesn’t sit on it evenly although it’s on a flat, even surface. Its a bit smaller than I expected, but I still love it. I had to replace a previously bought bird bath that I purchased from Wayfair several years ago that finally weathered out. The birds took to this new one right away I am pleased. The color is very nice!! The only thing is all the attachments for the fountain cause the water to dissappear very quickly so we dont use one.
