I have been curious about at home pool tests since we became pool owners in 2018. This pool testing kit caught my eye, and I thought I would try it out.
I like the compact plastic case, and the instructions are very easy to follow. This kit can test for chlorine, bromine, pH, and total alkalinity. It also has instructions on how to determine how much acid to add to the pool based on volume. The case is small (8” x 5” x 5”) and easily stored on an indoor shelf.
I am fortunate to live close to my pool supply store, and they offer free water testing. I had their machine run a water sample on the day that I used this kit for the first time. The pool store report is numeric and more precise. However, the chlorine, pH, and alkalinity tests done with this testing kit all fell in the appropriate ranges. The acid demand test matched as well. The colors are bright and easy to read. Once we get into pool season, I definitely see me using this test on a weekly basis to save time.
The only concern I have is that I am not sure what happens when one runs out of testing solution? From what I can tell, refill solution is not available. It is hard to gauge how long one should expect this kit to last.. Jamie. Flower Mound, TX. 2022-02-13 10:24:21
