One of the most poignant U.S. flags, the POW/MIA flag is the only flag besides the U.S. flag to fly over the White House. The POW/MIA flag commemorates the sacrifice of American soldiers who are either missing in action, or prisoner's of war. The motto, "You are not forgotten" is emblazoned underneath the profile of Jeffery Heisley, a soldier of the U.S. Marine Corps who was taken as a POW during Vietnam. This moving homage to their lost soldiers is appliqued on a single side of the flag, and is appropriate for occasional use. If the flag is to be displayed more frequently, Trinx recommends displaying a Double Sided POW/MIA Flag, which reads correctly when viewed from both sides.
