We replaced the original cover because it had grown algae in the seams despite our best efforts to keep them clean. At first, we weren’t sure because it is SO much lighter than the original cover that we doubted it would hold up to severe winds, let alone milder weather, keep its temp but it absolutely does! This floating pool light isn't powered by batteries that you have to replace constantly. This light is awesome! I put it in the pool to charge during the day. At night, it lights up the water, so you can see the pool from end to end, top to bottom.
