Very happy with this ceiling medallion. The light fixture I had originally ordered for the room felt too small and this gave it the dimension in the room that was missing. Pretty simple to install. We just used small finishing nails to secure it as flat as we could to the ceiling. Then caulked around the edge. We did not end up painting it because our ceiling was already white.. Nicole. We replaced 3 fixtures at the front of our home - dining room, foyer, and stairwell. The stairwell had a simple bubble light, with no medallion, while the other two had this exact medallion. This is a beautiful piece!!!! It is made of some sort of lightweight plastic material, but looks like plaster. I used it on a major wall, surrounded in square by chair rail moulding. This is my second purchase for this specific medallion- it is small but works in compact spaces like closets and entryways. I really like it because I use faux styrofoam ceiling tiles to cover ugly ceilings after scraping popcorn texture (and to avoid drywall repair and re-texturing). This medallion is beautiful - I love how it looks with my chandelier. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that you have to cut out the center yourself. For some reason I thought the center came out. It took the guy who installed it *a while* to do it himself. But as my picture shows, it is a beautiful, contemporary look - I really do love it :).
