Because they are going on a second floor ceiling, which is vaulted and might be 24 feet high. We have to have our electricians come out to install these. Not a bad little light bar. Dinging one star due to the fact that it doesn’t include bulbs and also good luck getting the bulbs into each socket! You will need to employ the tiniest of hands and patience to get the bulbs inside these small enclosures - it took me about 30 minutes just to get all six bulbs in.
