Don't make a product that breaks intentionally. Perfectly installed, gap in door latch once cut is still too wide. Absolutely awful product.

I bought 2 of these secondhand. I don't know how long the previous owners had them, but I've been using them at the top and bottom of my stairs for 6 months and they work perfectly! When they're not installed there is a large gap between the door and latch, but that is Intentional to ensure the gates are installed properly. Once they're secured correctly, the latch and door make contact. The tension screws are adjustable enough to handle the difference in width between the thick antique trim and walls of my house. My baby pulls and rattles on these gates, and plenty of guests have yanked on them trying to open them and they haven't taken any damage. I can open them with one hand while holding my baby, a laundry basket, whatever. I love that they can stay open if you need them to. The design also blends in nicely with my historic house.

It doesn’t latch properly. When I try to tighten the screws to close the gap the metal bends. This product has been nothing but a headache. Due to the constant adjusting/fixing it’s scuffed my walls and my hardwood floors. Do NOT recommend at all.

This is a really nice looking baby gate. I was really happy with it until today when the safety latch snapped right off! We have not been particularly rough with it by any means so I was very surprise. We bought two for our new puppy in January so this gate is less than 6 months old. I hope this was a fluke and the other one won't break as well. I would be a little wary of using this for a baby and absolutely would not use it on stairs since the part that broke is supposed to prevent your child from leaning on the gate and having it open towards the stairs. I would have said that quality and value were good until this happened since the gate does look really nice but if it can't hold up for safety reasons I can't give it a good rating.

Although this doesnt fit at the top of my stairs because we have a banister, it fits well at the bottom of our stairs. We haven't noticed any marks on our walls from the gate which is one thing I'm picky about. We also are very happy with the decor as baby gates usually look super unappealing. Overall, we would purchase again!

I really like that it has parts to make it extra secure for stair use as well. I was a little intimidated after reading the instructions, but after I started working on getting it in the doorway, it was alot easier than I thought it would be. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and it is still very secure, even after having littles who sometimes try to get through the gate. Very good baby gate!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very pleased with this gate. It is sturdy and doesn't make a lot of noise, while adding to the decor of my home. Right now its staying in place, but my little one isn't past crawling yet and putting full weight on it. It seems like it will stay in place unlike ones we've had it the past. We now have several Summer products and they are always one of our first shopping stops and will continue to be.
