Uhg! I’m once again wishing for 3.5 stars or a 710. Yes, the Rev-A-Shelf does work and their competition is weak, so I keep buying it. I think this is number four for me in the last few years. It works but they cost so much and leave so much to be desired. The main lacking component in this piece is the absolute waste of space above the can which could easily have been a pull-out drawer. If you’re looking at other pieces, my experience says they’re most likely lacking something too. I hope a competitive company that’s actually good enters the market. For now, let me tell you, it’s probably less expensive and better quality to have something custom-made. I’m doing that for another piece in my kitchen and saving money. I just couldn’t find good cans for this one or would’ve done it too. Over time you’ll probably forget how much you spent on Rev-A-Shelf, which is probably more than twice as much as it’s already marked up retail price should be, but, if you pick it and install it correctly, it should work.. I got this to use with the 8.75 gallon trash can, and it doesn't disappoint. It took about 10 minutes to unpackage and install. Very, very easy. I like that it's a full extension pullout (no more tipping the rear trash can and trying to wiggle it out), and I've learned to push the handle in so as not to keep my soft close doors from closing (but half the time I use my foot and pull from the bottom anyway. There's enough room in front of the handle that if you are a compulsive space-user and hang things like extra dishtowels or small items on your door it will still close (as long as they are not too massive). It's a smooth glide, though not automatic (i.e. it won't slide out or back in without a pull or push, and it has a positive stop so it doesn't drift against the door, which is handy in older houses with less-than-level floors).
