La Chamba Tall Stew Pot in black clay from Colombia. The deep, flat sided shape, is perfect for long cooking braise and stew recipes. The flat bottom shape is well suited for gas or electric ranges, and can be placed inside of an oven to generate a slow even. Completely natural and safe, contains no toxins or lead and the porous nature of the clay allows the slow evaporation of steam and produce food that is healthier, tastier, and moist using less fat and liquids. Will last many years with proper use and care (each piece comes with a product information sheet outlining the Uses and Care for the product). Black Clay, La Chamba Cookware, is well-known and used throughout Colombia in restaurants and homes for preparing and serving traditional dishes. Its origins can be traced back at least 700 years to vases and pitchers found in pre-Columbian archaeological sites. It is still made in the traditional manner, by families in a small village on the banks of the Magdalena River in Central Colombia. Each piece is hand-made using local area clays, then hand burnished with a stone. The pieces are then fired in the village, giving them the distinctive black color and elegant look.

I am so disappointed in this dutch oven. Although it is pretty, it cannot be used as a real cooking vessel because its base is not flat so it would be very wobbly on a stove, therefore, very dangerous. I suggest that it not be called a dutch oven because it's not. I would send it back except that I'm not able to repackage it.. Sallie. Pinellas Park, FL. Thu Oct 13 2022

The 5-quart Tall Cocotte is a taller version of the classic 4-quart cocotte, making it the ideal tool for cooking larger quantities without taking up valuable stovetop space. The additional height is especially useful in cooking bone-in meat cuts like crown roasts as well as layered dishes like tians or dishes that rise, such as soufflés. Plus, the added height reduces the risk of liquids boiling over and reduces splatter when deep-frying or searing. Like all Staub cocotte, the Tall Cocotte is unsurpassed for slow-cooking meats and vegetables to tender perfection and for simmering hearty stews and soups. Cast iron possesses exceptional heat-retaining qualities, so the pot heats evenly throughout. With a heavyweight, tight-fitting lid that retains moisture and tiny spikes on the lid interior that create a rainforest effect by evenly returning juices onto the food, you can expect moist, perfectly cooked food every time you use this pan. Rooted in French culinary heritage, STAUB cookware is beloved by professional and home chefs for its exquisite craftsmanship, exceptional performance, and timeless beauty. Each STAUB cocotte effortlessly and elegantly transitions from the oven to the table; you can cook and serve it in the same dish. These heirloom pieces can be lovingly passed from generation to generation.
