This is a great product. I use it to make ginger, garlic, and chili paste, and it does a fantastic job of getting the texture just right. It has a nice weight to it and plenty of depth so ingredients don’t fly out. This is the perfect size for crushing my herbs and spices. I have a large one made from onyx but I dont use it because Im afraid of chipping it. Its mostly a beautiful decorative piece because its so large. This one is much smaller and its made of marble so Im not worried about it chipping. It has a nice heft to it and its beautiful. Just as described, and works as expected. Arrived quickly. The set is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but I don't consider that a bad thing. The finish is somewhat rough, as with most cast iron items. It needs to be placed on a pad or coaster so it won't scratch countertops. But this rough texture works very well for grinding herbs/seeds. The pre-seasoning seems to wear off a bit on the end of the pestle, but I've been drying it thoroughly and rubbing some oil on it after washing, and so far I haven't had any problems with rust..
