The quality is very good, I'd say closer to 5 stars. There's some minor sheen differences in the wood that I expect will look more consistent after cleaning. Packaging was good also, very easy to break down and separate out the styrofoam and cardboard as I'm able to recycle both. However, the unit was damaged -- one leg where it curves to form the long "ski" broke clean through. I don't know whether to blame the packaging or the design of the unit (but it is very stout). The trunk is a beautiful piece of sturdy solid wood. I purchased it because it has the black metal legs and front handle that complements my current industrial bedroom furniture. Only four stars because it arrived damaged in two places. One at the left hinge attachment to the wood trunk, the other is a split in the wood on the right side of the trunk where the leg attaches. We were able to nail the wooden block into place to attach the metal leg securely and hopefully prevent further splintering. The quality control needs to be in place for both the preparation of the furniture for shipment AND ensuring the shipper HANDLES THE FURNITURE WITH CARE DURING SHIPMENT. Very nice all wood (cedar maybe?) stool that looks nice enough for the living room. We just needed a small stool in a couple of spots to have a way to reach up and pull the shades down, so this design fit the need perfectly. There was only one small problem, the top of one of the two units had a noticeable large gouge in the top. Overall, I like these a lot. I wanted something sturdy and basic in this room which houses my home office because I also have a lot of dumbbells and they were on a weight rack which I found to be somewhat unsightly. I had to deduct a star because I could not get the latches attached to the lid, no matter how hard I tried and the pre-drilled holes for the hinges were really not acceptable. In both of these chests, the middle pre-drilled hole was missing entirely. The others were just barely drilled and so I had to ask a friend to come over and help me get the screws fully screwed in. This trunk is the perfect coffee table piece! I’m awaiting two leather club chairs, so I’m not quite finished in the area. But I just moved in and do not have enough storage. This held 15 years worth of photo albums. And still is able to shift location with the handles. Not flimsy at all.
