These trivets, sold as a set of 2, are sturdy and functional as well as decorative. Each trivet is square and has four ball feet. The ball feet raise the trivet top 3/4" off the surface you place it on. This provides ample space for airflow. Use the trivet to prevent damage to the countertop or table when you use the trivet to place hot utensils on. You can also place indoor potted plants on the trivets to allow air flow under the pots. The 8 inches square trivets are small enough not to clutter the table but strong enough to hold pots and utensils much bigger. These caught my eye since I’m used to only seeing trivets that are round. I thought having rectangular ones would be great for when I am using them for a casserole dish for example. I should have read the item description better. They are very small but they do the job I guess. It keeps the pan from touching countertop but by raising it a bit in the middle, it doesn’t cover the bottom of the pan. I feel it might work well and it does take up less space.
