Overall, we are super happy with this. It was pretty easy to put together and fits well in our small kitchen. Love the color and that it has wheels so we can move it around easily. A few small complaints a couple of the pre-drilled holes did not match up quite right- some muscling and wiggling and we were able to make it work. The little pieces that fold out to support the drop leaf do not fold out fully due to a lip that is formed...that piece was already together when we got it so couldn’t do much about it. The leaf is still functional though. The detachable board (which we LOVE) was put together a little crooked, but was like that in the box. Still functional. Also of note we found this exact piece of furniture listed under two different names with two different prices with nearly 100 difference. Same pictures and same description. The South Perth Island is beautiful. The down side is color is not the same in the pictures on Wayfair where you choose your color. When the item arrived the color was much darker. Not a match at all. I held the picture of the color I wanted up to my cabinets to match from the color samples on Wayfair. It looked like a perfect match. When I got the island it was actually a very dark walnut instead of the Caribbean Rum picture color on the wayfair web. This product arrived on time and packaging was secure so it arrived in perfect condition. The directions were very clear and pictures were helpful too. The color of the unit was a lovely soft green true to photo. The butcher block top is wood veneer it looks good but wasn’t expecting particle board with veneer layer. Assembly was easy and able to be done by one person. Waiting to attach to until in kitchen when other arranging is done. For ease of moving piece while storing as the weight is in the butcher block top. Am very happy with the looks of the piece and the solid feel to the island while drawers and doors work very well.. Well made and very attractive EXCEPT the "butcher block" top is wood flooring that is stained and varnished. If you put a drink on it, it will leave a ring. You can't really USE it practically, you have to be careful about water, cut marks being very visible, food laying on varathane, and not putting anything hot on it. Very impractible!!. Roger. Very classy design, heavy and sturdy with eye-catching detail and impressive proportions. This was a significant purchase for my new home, and it looks like it was made just for my kitchen. But I am not $1,500 worth of happy... I would put my happiness rating at about $900. But I paid over $1,500 and I have some issues with this item. Mostly, the paint and overall finish on the legs and frame it not what I expected. The little bare detail spots are very rough and not sanded smooth so they will snag clothing if you brush up against it. And the wood used for the legs is heavy but also can be dented quite easily (which happened during assembly using a hand tool). But the real kicker for me is the paint job... for this much money it just doesn't seem to be "finished." You can scratch it off with a fingernail. With 3 small dogs in my house this is a potential problem. Add to that, the paint was not sealed in any way- and John Boos SELLS a poly coat product! I guess John Boos wants me to spend another $30.... and apply it myself. Which would have been easier before I assembled it. Now that it's put together, it will be a difficult job. My item arrived today. It's better then I expected. The item looks just like the picture. The drawers and cabinet are just what I expected. I would reccomend this item to anyone thinking of buying it. The only issue when unpacking it is that one of the caster wheels support piece was not attached.
