I couldn’t be happier with these bookcases. They look beautiful, feel sturdy once assembled, and offer a surprising amount of storage. The combination of open shelving, drawers, and cabinet space makes them both functional and attractive. Assembly is definitely a two-person job and is a bit involved. Our first bookcase took about four hours to assemble, but by the time we built the second one, we’d learned the process and finished it in under three hours. One tip for future buyers the instructions have you attach the hinges to the cabinet doors first and then install them after the cabinet is fully assembled. We found it much easier to attach the hinge hardware to the cabinet frame before installing the top panel, then attach the doors as the final step. It’s still a little fiddly, but it’s much easier than trying to work in a cramped space with tiny screws. Overall, these bookcases exceeded my expectations. We are using this as a shoe cabinet. Wayfair calls it a bookshelf, but I don’t think I would ever recommend it for books — the shelves are not adjustable and are way too short for books. They are perfect for our shoes, though! Even our boots fit nicely on the taller shelves. I am giving four stars because the construction of the doors, though cute, is not very sturdy at all. If you have active pets or kids I think they’re likely to break easily. Hopefully ours hold up since it’s in an out of the way location in our home, but only time will tell. luv the versatility of this unit and the ability to add more sections down the road. also love the simple but elegant design, my only dislike was the fact that brown is no longer available, also the instructions indicate that you would need to screw the top shelving unit into the basedrawers. I dislike, putting wood screw holes in the base. They should of designed it where instead of using wood screws, you could use machine screws to take it apart without damaging the wood.. William.
