I purchased the 3-shelf size, 36" H X 48" wide. It holds my entire cookbook collection and does double duty as a divider between the foyer and kitchen/dining area. Beautiful, heavy wood in the mission style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the backing. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing. The back of this bookcase is some sort of shiny, vinyl covered panel and the color is awful. Maybe it was meant to be faux marble, but they missed by a mile. I’ve been looking for storage options for a while, mostly for books but having the option for other things as well, and a dresser was too bulky while a book case was too narrow and tall. This is perfect. It’s well made and looks great. The back is pressed board with a wood laminate and there is definitely an order to install the back panels. There are no pre-drilled holes for the back panels, and while I did it through sheer willpower and determination, a power screwdriver would be helpful.
