Niches have been used in homes for almost 2000 years, first made of white marble in Nero's home. Most niches are still white, and for many years were mostly made of plaster. Now that many modern architectural products are made of urethane, custom millwork and details such as recessed niches have become affordable for any home improvement project. Niches are distinctive architectural accents. Often used to display sculptures, vases, clocks, plants, and flowers, niches are beautiful and functional details that add value to any home interior. They are often used in main hallways, dining rooms, foyers, and staircases. An important aspect of a niche is its ability to concentrate or disperse light, so its placement should be based on the availability of light, either sunlight or interior lighting fixtures. Ceiling accent lights are often added as a compliment above a niche. Niches made of urethane can be easy to install for anyone, simply cut a hole in the drywall and place the niche inside. These niches will also require little maintenance in the future, and offer beauty and value to your home for decades to come. Ekena Millwork offers niches in varying heights, widths, and depths to fit the scale of your home.

Beautiful, just as described. Well packaged, and looks well made. I have not had it installed yet, so hopefully no issues.. Juliette. Baldwin, NY. Mon Oct 24 2016

I love this niche!! We are building a new garage with a studio apartment above it and I want the bathroom to have a beautiful, spa feeling. So all the little details will be considered. I have done niches before with drywall and tile but thought these added a very refined, clean detail instead. This one will be behind the commode, just above the black and white subway tile chair rail. I can't wait to have it installed. I think it is perfect for a clean, sharp looking storage option. I love the arched shape. This niche is very well-made and the installation will be a breeze! Hopefully I can update my review once installed.. Jennifer. Orlando, FL. Sun Sep 06 2026

Signature Urethane is a groundbreaking progression in the world of architectural millwork. Molded urethane products have dominated the landscape for their beauty, crisp detail, longevity, and ease of access, but the introduction of specific sizes and styles proved challenging as a new mold would have to be made every time. The introduction of the Signature Urethane line of products takes all of those tried and true benefits of urethane, and frees it from the mold, meaning you have access to sizes and styles, and even fully customized designs, at an unprecedented level. These items are fully made to the order, using a combination of modern building techniques, and good old fashioned hand craftsmanship, to ensure your corbel, bracket, pilaster, pediment, gable vent or any other piece your project requires comes in exactly as you need it.
