The methodology is that you put two big sandbags on the bottom so it is sturdy and then they have a fabric that you cover the base with so you don’t see the bags which make this really flawless and beautiful. This is a monster! Great coverage of our ten seater dining table , love the 360 and the tilt mode. It took three adults to put it together it is massive and is a bit tricky , maybe finicky when opening it but once it is open it’s fantastic and provides excellent shade. Make note the base needs to have weight added to it I think the minimum is 660 lbs! We used landscape fabric and some rubber weight plates then covered with rocks and then black river rock . All I imagined and more. This umbrella delivers. I went from sadness, thinking the base wouldn’t fit under my table, to elation when I realized you could flip the attachments. They thought of everything. The lights are Solar, which attaches to the top of the umbrella. Don’t miss this, mine almost got thrown out with the trash, cause I didn’t realize the lights were Solar. Each individual light is professionally embedded, which turn on by way of a switch at the end of the umbrella, and provides just the right ambiance. Open, the umbrella covers a large rectangle table that seats 8, with room to spare around the edges. It comes with bags I filled with sand and securely holds the umbrella in place.
