Okay! SO- first time chicken owner here. We live in Maryland and are raising chicks and ducks from babies. We live in the woods and therefore have a ton of natural predators. The coop on its own is not SUPER sturdy, but not the worst quality I have seen and works well for a yard that slopes. There are some gaps, so we enclosed the top and bottom with hardware mesh stapled into the wood and secured with cement blocks just to be sure everything would be safe, and so far so good! The cover seems like it will be reasonable for the raincolder temps. Used Wayfair assembly service, which was good but it did take 3 men four hours to assemble just FYI. Overall, happy!. Anonymous. Yay, one step closer to getting our chickens!! We live in the country, so we wanted to make sure our girls would be safe while also making sure they have dedicated shade in our hot summers, and this is perfect. While this was pretty straightforward to put together, just know, you will become one with the zip ties. If you think, "there is no way we'll use that many zip ties", trust me, you will. A tip, once you get the frame up and you're ready to start putting up the wire, have a second person, but don't work on different parts, connect one part of the wire, then work your way to the other side before the other person starts on anything. You'll want someone on the outside of the run and someone inside to do adjustments (stretching and holding the wire, etc). If you try to do both sides at once, you'll have to redo parts...hopefully this helps save you a potential headache. Once it's up, it's great, the shade cloth really makes a big difference in heat!. The large chicken coop comes with a chicken run and has two large nesting boxes. The chicken house has four perches with large removable sliding trays for easy cleaning. There are six access points for easy access to all areas of the coop. Features three ventilation windows in the sleeping area to keep it well ventilated. Galvanized wire mesh walls and a series of locks at each access point keep your family animals safe inside and from predators. Sliding door with steel sliding bar locks ducks safely inside the coop.

I made quite a few modifications to make this coop more useful. I used strong magnets across the top so we could reach into the run. We added stair tread to the roost ramp so our ladies didn’t slip around anymore. I’d planned to use a solar door opener to let the gals in and out, but I was one day over the 30 day return window and Wayfair wouldn’t let me return it even for store credit.
