Okay! SO- first time chicken owner here. We live in Maryland and are raising chicks and ducks from babies. We live in the woods and therefore have a ton of natural predators. The coop on its own is not SUPER sturdy, but not the worst quality I have seen and works well for a yard that slopes. There are some gaps, so we enclosed the top and bottom with hardware mesh stapled into the wood and secured with cement blocks just to be sure everything would be safe, and so far so good! The cover seems like it will be reasonable for the raincolder temps. Used Wayfair assembly service, which was good but it did take 3 men four hours to assemble just FYI. Overall, happy!. Anonymous. The chicken coop is a great product, perfect for beginners and experienced chicken owners alike! The construction was straightforward and the instructions were easy to follow. It took about 4 hours to build. It would be perfect for a backyard. The run is small so I wouldn’t have more than 6-10 chickens if you’re not planning to free range. We will free range so I would be comfortable housing more in there. It is convenient height for collecting eggs and cleaning out waste. I made quite a few modifications to make this coop more useful. I used strong magnets across the top so we could reach into the run. We added stair tread to the roost ramp so our ladies didn’t slip around anymore. I’d planned to use a solar door opener to let the gals in and out, but I was one day over the 30 day return window and Wayfair wouldn’t let me return it even for store credit. When I ordered this, the pictures were of a completely different coop, so it was a little misleading. However, once assembled I think this will still suit our needs. We are raising 4 chicks currently and this will be a good interim home as we build a larger run and coop. The coop is quite large, but a pretty simple build. Simple enough that I was able to do as a project with my little ones. Didn’t find any problems with the instructions - all were written pretty clearly and simply. No mistakes and nothing left out. We were worried about the coop in the Louisiana weather, but the PVC roof is large enough and pitched correctly to keep water off the sides and out of the coop. Great product! All timber is T&G plained to avoid splintering. This house is designed with a living room for sleeping, and a pen downstairs. All joints are mortise and tenon. 2 x access doors on both levels. The Spray wire is solid and Non-toxic in case your animals like to chew.

Great starter coop! We ended up stapling chicken wire around the entire outside for extra protection and also added a second latch to the bottom of the door. Impressed with the amount of roosting space plus ground space. I plan on redoing the latches on the roosting boxes as they aren’t the strongest and predators “could” get in or my chickens could get out. We did have missing pieces to 4 of the latches and had to go buy some.
