I have had other similar beds where the drawers are made of plastic. I am glad that I paid someone to install it because it took a pro more than an hour. It’s versatile and has a transitional quality to it, making it easy to adapt to any aesthetic. That's a huge deal for anyone who wants to change things up every once in a while. Since it's neutral, it brings unity and cohesion to just about any style. I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday. It took my husband about a half hour or so to assemble - and most of that was spent unboxing. Before putting it together, I added adhesive felt pads to the bottom legs for easy sliding and protection of wood floors. It's solid and well-engineered. I have limited storage, so appreciate that I can store things underneath the frame (air conditioner during winter, winter clothes during summer, etc.). I attached the frame to a metal headboard, and it looks like the two go together. This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. Pretty and functional. This bed is perfect for our need but I would not have bought it for a full-time bed of a large adult or two regular adults. The supports are adequate for a lighter load but seem flimsy for a heavy load. We also had no screws in our box as the box was damaged when it arrived but we were able to run over to ACE hardware and get the appropriate hardware and still assemble the bed the next day. We also built two supports that were equal to the center support and now, its perfect. The color is beautiful and the height was perfect for the low ceiling room we were using it in. Its just a guest bed but we slept on it for a night and it supported our weight and again, looks great. we also loved that there is not a third leg on the edge of the bed in the middle.
