I've been assembling various pieces of furniture for almost 30 years now. This is hands down the worst one I've done. First, the set all together weighs about 400 lbs, so even moving the boxes inside is a bit of a chore. This set is also much more complicated than average. Unfortunately the instructions are, at best, less detailed, and at worst, just wrong. I saw several places where pieces were incorrectly labeled in the instructions, or correctly labeled in one page but not in the next. There are no indicators anywhere when it will matter, say, which direction a piece needs to face. The best you can do is to look extremely closely and count the dots in a drawing and compare it with the holes in the piece you have. Even then, it's often not clear when a piece needs to face one way or another. You need to CONSTANTLY be looking 5 or 6 steps in advance and piecing the whole thing together in your mind, or you will have to back out several steps (I had to undo at least 5 separate times). And even after you look ahead half a dozen steps, the errors you will notice throughout the instruction book will have you second-guessing both the instructions AND yourself until it's done. I spent LITERALLY the entire weekend putting this together, and when it was finally done, it became clear that some bad quality control meant that several pieces were cut too long or not curved enough or something similar. So after mounting the shelving, it won't fully rotate either left or right, and the bed is now stuck inside the cabinet until I either remove the entire shelving panel and remove the offending shelves, or cut down the shelves that are sized incorrectly so they don't run into the sides and prevent it from turning. I hated everything about this experience. I would ask for my money back, but that would likely mean I would have to take this entire thing apart again - this would be the 3rd or 4th time I've undone several of those screws.. Rick. Great bed — but assembly is NOT for the faint of heart! I chose this bed specifically for the desk design and mattress base, and so far I love it. The instructions are clear, and I really appreciated that they tell you which box each piece is in. Study those illustrations carefully! I had to redo a couple of steps. The big downside: assembly is a PROJECT. If your room is small, assemble it somewhere else and move it in. I was also short a few dowels but made replacements. The Queen brackets didn’t line up with 16" on-center studs in both mounting locations, so I had to add horizontal 2x4s for proper support. They work great, but now I’ll need to trim them out so they’re hidden. I do have some concerns about possible noise while sleeping, but I’ll update the review after we’ve actually slept in it. Overall, great first impression and exactly what I was looking for!. Reah. Spring, TX. Thu Sep 24 2026

I absolutely love this Murphy bed! It’s high-quality and comes with very clear instructions. Based on other reviews, I knew it would be a time-consuming project, and it ended up taking me two days to assemble, about 10 hours in total. The trickiest part was mounting it to the wall. The instructions state it should only be mounted to concrete, but since my house isn't concrete, we had to adapt: we bolted 2x4s into the wall studs wherever there were mounting brackets, and then bolted the bed frame to the 2x4s. You can see one of the 2x4s in the second picture. Securely anchored in eight places, it’s rock-solid and isn't going anywhere. I plan to add paneling later to hide the 2x4 support board. We are extremely happy with how this looks in our TV room, and the addition of subtle lighting really highlights its beauty. I highly recommend this sturdy piece of furniture!. Lisa. Mckinney, TX. I bought this Murphy bed for my guest bedroom and its exactly what I was looking for. Assembly was definitely a challenge (instructions were good, but lots of heavymoving pieces), but for the price it was worth it. There are no shelves inside the cabinets, but that was perfect so I can easily store the pillows and comforter while the bed is up. I also purchased a wardrobe from the same line to create a closet area for guests. All the pieces are sturdy and the quality seems great.. Alexandra. GA. Sat Sep 12 2026
