I’m really pleased with these bookends. They are solid and heavy, which keeps my books upright without sliding around. The marble look is beautiful—soft neutral tones with subtle veining that makes them feel elegant and high-end. This beautiful relief panel depicts the Maya glyph for music. In the codices, it indicated who was listening to music at the moment. Camarena crafts the piece with resin, using a mold sculpted by hand. The image stands on a pine wood base.

Ernst Gruler's original sound sculptures were made from repurposed scrap steel and pressure canisters, with a liberal sprinkling of industrial chic, and the technical and aesthetic attention to detail that informs all of Ernst's work. The bells are meant to be rung, and in many cases, other parts of the sculptures also resonate when struck. This is why he calls them sound sculptures: they invite exploration and interaction, along with the contemplation of the origin and previous functions of the various scrap components of the sculptures. Studio A Home has reproduced Ernst's original sound sculptures from iron. The exactly reflects the component parts of his originals.
