Came in two boxes. Instructions were okay but a little difficult to understand. Took about 5 hours total to put together with one 43-year-old female and two teenage girls who only helped a little at the very beginning. Still not a completely done, still need to do the storage for under the bed. I am 165 lbs and stepped on the bottom step to do the screws for the top step and heard it crack, a little worried about that. It says the top bed can hold 400 lb, hoping for the best when these teenage girls sleep on this tonight and nobody gets hurt. (15 and 19). Love all the storage though. This bed has suited our family's needs well, so far. It seems pretty sturdy, isn't too high so I'm not concerned when my 3 year old climbs up. My 5 year old is on the lower bunk and can sit up without hitting her head. The slats on the bottom bunk allow the mattress to be elevated off of the floor. The reason I gave it 4 stars was for assembly. While I found the directions clear, there were two items mislabeled and I did not realize until I was halfway through construction. I had to completely disassemble to fix the issue. So I would recommend double checking the hole placements in the photos along with the labels on each piece to confirm that you are using the correct piece at each step. Another issue that I had was one screw broke during assembly, another has broken off since, and there was 1 screw missing. The bed turned out in the end and we're happy with it. Beds are very nice, but a lot larger in person than they look in the picture. The picture must be in a large room. LOL My granddaughter lives in a mobile home so the rooms aren't that large and this bed takes up most of the room, but the beds are what we needed so it's ok. Just be aware that this set is large. One issue we found is the mattresses we have for both beds are very thick so for the top bunk, we are going to have to get an extra bed rail so my grandson does not roll off the bed as the mattress comes right to the top of the rail on the bed. The beds are nice though and quite sturdy. One BIG issue I had was I paid extra (thru the Wayfair order) for a "pro" from Angi's to come assemble the beds and that turned out to be a total disaster and after the "pro" being rescheduled 3 times, we just cancelled the assembly order and found someone local to put the bed set together. So I would definitely recommend NOT paying extra to have an Angi pro come assemble anything. Their system is flawed big time and a total waste of your money. We live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia which is a very large area, so the fact that they couldn't find a "pro" to assemble the beds is strange!! This bunk bed exceeds my expectations! Everything was included in the package, and the installation took about 1.5 hours from start to finish. My husband was able to complete it almost all by himself, with only needing the lend a helping hand occasionally. The pieces are nicely sanded and finished. It does smell like wood stain, but that will disappate over time. I’m so glad it is real wood as described vs the cheap MDF stuff. My only complaint is that the description states the guardrail is 17”, but really it is only about 12”.
