The new shipment did arrive with all the parts, but we also noticed some chipping and damage on the side. At that point, we decided to keep it because we were tired of going back and forth. The bed looks exactly as pictured online. Assembly is tedious intakes quite some time. One thing to note is the shelf on either side is not actually Wood. It is some type of hard material but it is covered with a padded vinyl wood grain look. I am so impressed with how great this bed looks. As far as durability, I am using it around an adjustable base, so the base is supporting my mattress. But from an aesthetic standpoint, it delivers, and is sturdy enough to provide an attractive wrapper around the base and mattress. It took me about 4 hours to assemble, and it was not hard, but I did it alone, so I was tired at the end. I recommend doing an inventory of all of the pieces before starting, and getting very organized. Some of the pieces are not labeled so this is a critical step. There were a few challenges getting the holes to align, but that was more of a factor of me trying to build this around an existing base, so the access to the final screws that attached the headboard were challenging. I think if you have a super heavy mattress and are using the slats, it may not be up to the task, but for others price you can't beat the look. Overall very pleased.. Mary. San Francisco, CA. One annoying thing was that the clear plastic protector that wrapped the headboard roots itself behind where the led lights are, so pulling it totally out is a pain. I couldn't be happier with this bed! The 3D chevron headboard is absolutely stunning and gives the room a high-end, custom look. This bed did not need a box spring, but I did add one for extra height. The pictures with the white bedding is how it looks without a box spring and the one with stripes is how the bed looks with a box spring.
