It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. We bought the 20x12 to go over our back patio. The house has an eave so we measured and confirmed the stated height of the pergola would fit under the eave. The pergola ended up being several inches higher than the specs. I think 103 inches high when it was complete. Because of this, my husband had to buy a new blade to cut the rear poles several inches He also has to drill new holes. This worked out well but took several hours to address. The instructions aren’t great but we were able to follow them with minimal errors. Putting all the poles together was tedious but to be expected for this size project. Actually raising the pieces and attaching them to make the frame was not very difficult and we were easily able to accomplish it with three people. We had a downpour a day after putting it up, and only one spot has a drop, so I would say it’s pretty water tight. My husband doesn’t love that the roof isn’t opaque, so we may end up painting it. We’ll see. Other than the height issue, I’m pretty pleased with the quality for the price. I purchased a 10 foot and an 8‘ x 10 pergola. We put them side-by-side and we have created a beautiful area which will be a setting area and a hot tub area. The directions were a little complicated, but we got everything done without a problem. We built the big one on Saturday and the one on Sunday. The second was a breeze after building the first one. Sturdy and well made, instructions were fairly clear and with a one man assembly expect an all day project, but with 2 people who are fairly handy should be a breeze. I’d definitely recommend mounting it to something whether it be the side of a house or some solid structure, but definitely wouldn’t leave it as a stand alone. Should last for years to come. Nice Pergola It’s solid but a little lower than I had envisioned. The front has a shallow gutter with ends open. I’m a trying to figure out how to hang a gutter. It’s very hard to drill. This is a great pergola! I love that it provides an area of shade on my back porch without blocking the sunlight coming into my house completely. The roof itself is light filtering, which is great because it’s not completely blacked out. I love the curtains and mash liner so that I can enclose it if I need to or keep it open. The installation itself was not accurate according to the instruction pamphlet. It only needed two people, but took between six and eight hours to assemble.
