It is of-course like most pet furniture, compressed“cheap” wood, but the finish looks great. My personal experience required a lot of patience to finally get the item in one piece, as I had problems with several damaged pieces and missing pieces. However the manufacturer exercised exemplary business ethic, in the form of determination to get my order right and sent me full replacements even though I was fine with getting the replacement parts only. I finally received the missing frame pieces I needed to complete the setup and appreciate their commitment to the sale. Thankful to Wayfair and the manufacturer for their commitment to making customers happy and getting value for their money. very nice looking cat cabinet. Pretty easy to assemble. was able to assemble myself. I bought this to replace one that my cats had destroyed as one sometimes misses the litter box. What I did to help prevent this was to buy a silicone mat and cut to size after the cabinet was assembled. Hopefully this helps control the litter on the floor of the cabinet and the missed shots. Very easy to build! Very straight forward instructions sturdy material I love that I can have it open or closed. My litterbox was too big so I put my cats favorite scratcher (more like her bed!
