Surface mount PVC gable vents are not only long-lasting, durable, and easy to install, they instantly add tremendous value and character to the exterior of a home. Upon arrival, the PVC should be painted before installation with the exterior color of your choosing. PVC gable vents are available in a functional option, to allow air flow, and in a non-functional option, if you want to simply enhance the architectural features of your home. Keep the traditional look of an exterior gable vent, without the downsides of traditional wood, by ordering PVC gable vents.

Sturdy construction, but was hoping to have more air movement (slant opening is kind of small (1/4 -3/8" width). It does look nice on our 1918 barn that we are restoring.. Harold. Kansas. Mon Jul 17 2023

Urethane Gable Vents shine when it comes to looking like a real wood product without all the maintenance that can come with wood. They are moulded from beautiful designs, like wood products, and come to you factory primed and ready for your paint. The functional option will offer better airflow, however, urethane vents offer the least amount of airflow. Highly recommended for decorative applications.

We first purchased one of these vents to see if it would work for our renovating and painting project of the outside of our house. We originally had inexpensive vinyl vents which were intended to be temporary (ended up to be around 20 years). We wanted to replace the old vents with something that would look a lot better. We were pleased with the first one we ordered; so we ordered three more to replace the remaining old vents. We decided to add a primer and high gloss white finish and they look great. Since they are red cedar, they will last for years. We would highly recommend these vents.. Natalie C. Sat Dec 26 2020

Bought the primed functional half round gable vent, and am happy with the solid construction. Before painting needed to remove the insect screen, which was stapled to the back, to avoid getting paint on the screen. Also needed to sand some edges due to wood splinters and one slat which had a significant raised grain pattern. Reattached the screen with brass nails as the staples were unusable.. Caroline B. Gable vents work to provide ventilation, releasing stagnant air, preventing damage from humidity, and optimizing temperature control. Gable vents are particularly useful during the summer months when hot air rises and is trapped in the attic, where it can transfer itself down through the ceiling and back into the level below, decreasing the effectiveness of air conditioning systems A gable vent is located at the attic area, commonly on the exterior wall where the two planes of a sloping roof join, forming a triangle. The gable can be any symmetrical shape, but the triangle is among the most common. Other vent shapes include rectangles, steeples, circles, and octagons. Gable vents are fitted with horizontal ventilation slats called louvers. You can add a mesh screen to be placed behind the vent. This allows air to circulate while keeping outside elements where they belong. A gable mounted ventilator helps to push air through the louvers. The ventilator removes air from the attic through the use of turbines or fans. The gable ventilator commonly requires no carpentry, as it is mounted on the interior of the wall behind the gable, however, electrical installation is required.

It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. It's much better, but I might someday replace it with the non-functional version.. Cheryl. Redwood City, CA. Tue May 09 2023
