It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

This fireplace mantel is good quality. No damages and shipping was very fast. It comes with a very sturdy wooden bracket that drills into the wall and that is what holds this piece. We fell in love with this mantel. Our decor is light and curved, and the mantel that was present when we moved in was a painted white 2x4. So, after looking for something for 2 years, this popped up as new. It didn't have a lot of reviews, but I decided to take a chance. And I am glad we did! We ripped out a black piece of slate, and had a porcelain hearth built, and tile on the back wall behind where the hearth would go. The piece arrived very securely packaged, which is good, because it is HEAVY. You will need a couple of people to help you get it in. It was pretty simple to put together. The two sides attach securely to the top. there are a few other pieces of wood to ensure there are no gaps, and that it does attach securely to the wall. The curves are lovely and make this a unique piece. The quality of the wood is great. Solid. This looks like a very high quality mantel.
