This is a nice little fan. Works great and has a low hum to it which at first I thought would keep me from sleeping but it really lulls you to calmness. It still connects to my light switch but I have the remote that comes with a mount to turn on fan. The fan has 6 speeds for pulling air up or down. Do not let the size fool you, it is powerful. The weave is beautiful and tight. No loose ends. Also when I was having trouble removing the smaller rod to attach to the light mount, Wayfair and the supplier provided a video and detailed instructions on how to proceed that same night! We have a "Florida basement" storage room in our modern organic coastal home that needed a light. This was perfect, nice (not cheap) quality and a little fun. When lit, the warm brown weave creates a neat little pattern across the ceiling. As some have mentioned, you will need to be directly under the fan to feel it but it does move air surprisingly well. This is perfect for us because I sometimes hang wet clothes on a drying rack or do some ironing in the center of the room.
