It was easy to add this fan to a location where a porch light was no longer needed. I purchased a 3 way switch and connected inside so that we can change the speed with a wall switch. I did not add any additional wiring, so it does not oscillate. However, it is mounted in a 9x9 ft space, so that is not a problem. It is very comparable in sound and pressure to the same desk top fan that I use in my bedroom. I ordered this outdoor misting fan from tried and true. It is really big and the airflow is nice. It's really heavy so it has to be mounted in something sturdy. The water tank is also a good size. Love this fan, initially got for the back patio, was a little too big, my husband put it in his barn mounted on the wall, he loves it, has great air circulation and not too loud.
