I have a lot of high- end knives and was debating on pulling the trigger on a Yani since I'm not a sushi chef or a pro but I've been mesmerized by this knife for a couple years. I'm so happy I got it, it's a work of art! I've used it to fillet a few fish I've caught and for slicing roasts and steaks, haven't noticed it " steering" me due to single bevel, it's so sharp and has perfect weight. Not a laser like a Yu so I've got more confidence if I'm cutting a rib roast or something with a bone-in. Beautiful work of functional art. Haven't had to sharpen yet but will definately do it myself, I'm confident in my ability to sharpen and not scratch it. It is one fine tool. BTW, it's not my most expensive knife. I actually enjoy slicing various meats with this knife. It is no longer a chore as this effortlessly slices through anything. I actually cooked a brisket specifically to use my new knife on to see if this was easier to use for large slices of meat. It was SO much better than using other knives I already own. And having the nice sora included is wonderful as many other brands don't include a blade guard with purchase for some reason. My wife liked a smaller santoku from our crummy knife block because it fit well in her hand and was more comfortable to use than my chefs knives but it was duller than Trump supporters. I decided to purchase this when it was on sale for a gift since Shun has a good reputation with their knives. It came plenty sharp and looks really nice on our magnetic knife strip with some other Japanese steel from my collection. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold its edge as long as I'd hoped it would. This is by far the sharpest knife I've ever owned. It makes cutting small and soft things like meat, tomatoes, garlic, even capers so much easier than any of my other kitchen knives. It doesn't look traditional, but the Shun Sora Ultimate Utility Knife is amazingly versatile. The cutting edge offers a low-frequency serration that makes it perfect for slicing delicate thin-skinned fruits and vegetables, yet it can also be used for chopping and slicing. The wide blade with its rounded tip also makes it a great knife for spreading mayo on a sandwich, and the serrations work like a bread knife to cut the sandwich in half without tearing. Try it and you'll be surprised at how often you'll find yourself reaching for this multi-function knife.
I'm a huge shun fan and saw this knife at my local William Sonoma. Way fair had it for a better price, and their shipping was super quick. However, even though the knife is very nice, I find myself reaching for my chefs knife or standard utility knife instead, the shape does not lend itself to the type of knife work I normally do. This double electric wall oven by LG features a spacious 9.4 cu. ft. of capacity, allowing you to cook multiple dishes with ease.
This oven looks really nice & cooks extremely well! I use Convection Mode mostly & it automatically reduces temperature which is nice. Bake Mode is what I use for desserts, breads & so far I’m happy with that. I have used the air fryer & comes with a basket. Improvements: menu panel is VERY hard to see in the evening- the print is too light. This really needs to be backlit, imo. (The LCD display that shows temp, etc is very bright so I’m not sure why the menu display is so dull) Also it’s missing add a minute button, when you want to add more time to cooking. The oven light goes off after 1 minute, which makes no sense if you want to check on your food while cooking. With each use of your knife, the edge naturally bends over just a tiny bit. The edge is still sharp, but the sharpest part isn’t making contact with the food. The answer is honing. It realigns the edge and prolongs the sharpness. This honing steel has 2 surfaces a smooth 1 for every day honing and a micro-ribbed 1 for weekly honing. It has a built-in angle on the handle, which makes it easy to hone your knives to the correct 16° Shun angle.
