Time will tell how this guy holds up! Assembly was a little bit of a pain, do note that you have to take tons of screws OUT upon unpacking. I though I had missing pieces. The shipping box makes it almost impossible to repack once you unpack it, so make sure you want it! Some of the panels were bent, but upon installing I realized it didn't matter, the frame aligns them and it's virtually unnoticeable. Other than that, the item feels really well made and sturdy once all together. It isn't meant to be water proof, only water resistant. It's very nice looking, and the light color is beautiful. Great purchase for keeping the yard organized. Assembly was super simple- parts of the box frame just snap together to make the base/ frame, and you really only need to screw in the reinforcements, hinges and hardware. It took a little balancing/rearranging to get the bottom + four sides all attached at once but was able to do with just one person. Comes with metal supports for the long sides & top, so its sturdy enough, but just know that the sides are more flexible than sturdy. Hydraulic hinges were a beeze to install. For the price point, its a good buy and it should last a few seasons. It seems to be waterproof-ish by default - the top lays flat on the box body but it does not have any kind of overlap or fitted close mechanism that would keep out water, other than being a flat lid on top of a rectangle.. This box just arrived. I put it together, in all of 5 minutes! Now, Im not storing the crown jewels in here (though it can be locked). But, it is PERFECT for my birdseed and such. Suncast has excellent products that last for years, and years. This large deck box was very easy to assemble, is waterproof, and very sturdy. I had one that I purchased over 20 years ago in brown and left it at my previous residence when I moved. It was still in great condition. I expect this new one to last just as long. This is a fantastic storage unit. I have it on my large enclosed patio on my ranch condominium deck. I also have the tall matching shelving bin and have had that for many years. Unboxing and putting it together is a slight challenge. I am an 80 year old Grandma but I only had to call for help once. It required no parts or tools but just a little muscle and perhaps someone to hold it up while you fit all the sides and top together. All of the Rubbermaid bins work like that. The tall bin (exactly the same design) actually was my mother’s and she had it for many years. . Still looks good . You will want to unbox it right where the ail person leaves it and take it piece by piece where you want it to end up. Mine holds my lighted reindeer family and all my garland and lots more.
